GTF Scotland was part of the GTF United Kingdom and was part of the Global Taekwon-Do Federation since it’s conception back in 1990 when the Federation was founded by the late Grandmaster Park Jung Tae 9th Degree Blackbelt. Grandmaster Park was an excellent Taekwon-Do practitioner and his strength, power and precision of technique was second to none.
GTF Scotland’s President Master Allan Cunningham, 7th Degree Blackbelt, has been the President of GTF Scotland since day one. Master Cunningham attended the first seminar with Grandmaster Park in Coventry, when he was Master Park - an 8th Degree. It was at this time the Mid West Taekwon-Do Association became the GTF UK. He also attended the first European Global Taekwon-Do Council meeting which took place in Stratford Upon Avon in 1992. GTF Scotland try to support every GTF World and European Championship. We also like to enter as many different Federations and Styles Championships as possible to put the GTF badge on the winners podium, promoting Gradmaster Parks brand of Taekwon-Do and making other styles and organisations take note that GTF Taekwon-Do has excellent techniques and standards. The GTF is like a big family and in Scotland this is no different. Everyone is treated equally and there is no interest in any of the politics that is evident in other Taekwon-Do associations worldwide. We look after our Instructors and Blackbelts, who in turn look after our coloured belt students. We have regular Instructor meetings, we offer numerous local tournaments, seminars, courses, monthly advanced technical training, extreme all terrain training and squad training, which is open to all grades. Our Instructors try to implement the techniques of our founder Grandmaster Park, who visited Scotland on many occasions for Seminars and Championships. One of Grandmaster Park’s fondest memories of Scotland was playing golf at the Old Course in St Andrews. Our aim is to be the #1 Taekwon-Do group in Scotland, always trying to improve and strive perfection in technique and support the GTF and its President, Mrs Linda Park, Honorary Grandmaster 9th Degree. Grandmaster Park Jung Tae was inducted into the Taekwon-Do Hall of Fame and deservedly so. To the members of GTF Scotland he was and always will be Taekwon-Do. He was truly a great man, who followed the tenets of Taekwon-Do all his life. He was a great teacher in many aspects of life, not just martial arts. The GTF has members from around the world with Grandmaster Park Jung Tae being known as the “Peoples Master’. In 2009, GTF Scotland’s Instructors voted Allan Cunningham as the President and Shirley Cunningham, 3rd Degree Blackbelt, as Vice-President for life. Mr Stephen Gell, 6th Degree Blackbelt, is GTF Scotland’s Technical Director. |
The GTF is committed to the traditional values taught by our founder and teacher, Grandmaster Park Jung Tae. It was through his humble spirit that we were privileged to learn the meaning of a true Martial Artist. The goal of the GTF is to carry on with his legacy..
